2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Battery issues

I purchased my Jeep brand new and had no issues until this week. My battery drained and unable to start. I had towed to dealership and they said the battery just needed a full charge. Granted it has been a very cold start to winter here in Ottawa ON but still I never expected my Jeep with less than 18000 km not to start. I was charged 98 dollars to charge the battery. This morning I went to start my jeep and again it won鈥檛 start. I am so frustrated I don鈥檛 know if I should just go and buy a brand new battery somewhere else or have it towed again to the dealership and ask them to find out what is going on with my jeep. I purchased extended warranty for seven years on this vehicle. Should this be happening to a less then two year old brand new jeep? Any advice would be appreciated. I鈥檓 feeling so frustrated and have lost all trust with the dealership 馃槺

And I just don't know what CT's return policy is...
That shouldn't be a problem, since they sold her the wrong battery to begin with. @TinasJeepCherokee you have to be assertive, aggressive, and persistent at that dealership, and maybe PM @JeepCares and get them involved with help on the warranty situation. Give them hell, like a boss girl!!!馃槑

Here's a good article on what might happen if you install a regular (flooded) battery in an ESS vehicle. One important detail in there : they mention some ESS vehicles can detect battery type while others can't. I don't know if the Cherokee's system can detect this or not. But it's a good read and highligths the fact that you absolutely need an AGM battery, even if you don't use ESS. They got my attention with the possibility of having your vehicle warranty voided (!!), Gulp.. So yeah, drive with the CT battery until you get this resolved with a dealership.

In the event you hit a brick wall with dealerships and you just want to buy your own battery : go up this thread and you'll see Costco sells an Energizer group 94R (H7) AGM as well. But... you should be able to get one from a dealership, for free...

JeepCares doesn't cover Canada...
Well damn, that's right!!!馃槑
She just needs to walk in there, and go all "Flybynightcru Scott" on their a$$es!!! I've been escorted off the property of more than one dishonest establishment in my life, cuz I'm just too old now to put up with their BS. My dealer treats me like VIP now after the "wrong oil" incident, because they know I don't play those games...LOL!!!馃槑

Wow that is some good reading material

thanks for the link
Posted in error. I suggested JeepCares should be involved but I see someone already suggested that. What did they say?

Yep, Jeep customer care, via phone. Not sure how efficient they are, could be worth a shot if a dealership refuses to honor warranty repairs.
If you have a problem in Canada, you Phone FCA (now stellantis) customer care, that's how I went about the teething issues with my 2014, did not involve social media at all.
I went to the dealership with the dead battery. He called and told me he charged the battery and it passed 馃槺馃槺馃槺馃槺. He did say though that since this time it was out of the car the technician said half the battery is swollen. What the heck does that mean ?? So he told me that he is going to find a dead battery in the dealership then when he does he will put it in my Jeep so it will spit out a dead code so he can claim it under warranty

Then he said he鈥檚 going to refund me the $98 but still doesn鈥檛 know how the battery lost so much in two days or why it is swollen.

i am even more confused than before. How does a battery get swollen. Can you see it in this picture ??

You have the Gold Plan why would the dealer care? Batteries do swell

Swelling can occur when the electrolyte freezes, and the electrolyte freezes easily when a battery is heavily discharged. So a discharged battery in frigid conditions = permanent damage.
I don't understand how their GR8 can say 'good battery' here, because it is obviously not...

I know I don鈥檛 get it either I just want this over with I want to see the brand new battery coming off the shelf and into my jeep I want to know the date on the battery as well I want my refund and then drive away hopefully without any issues. If again this happens that I know it鈥檚 something electrical in my jeep

Your extended warranty kicks in AFTER you new car 3/36 is over. In the USA, Your 3/36 covers any failure of any part bumper to bumper (except for damage),no deductible. Canada is similar but it鈥檚 kilometers not miles (not sure on the numbers).

Stick to your guns, the battery, testing, and charging should be covered. Don鈥檛 accept anything less!
