5th year coming up since I bought my fully loaded TH with 4cyl Turbo. Just wanted to update on reliability and issues.
1st year no major issues. Had a situation where I was sitting in a McDonalds drive thru. The start/stop feature had the engine in shutdown. I opened the door, put the shifter in park, and the jeep had a fit. Several dash lights came on, including the engine light. After 24hrs, the computer could not find fault, and light went out. Never happened again.
2nd year. Start/stop no longer functions. Lift gate kick feature is no longer. I took advantage of my good fortune with the lack of start/stop till December, when one morning the jeep would not start. Turns out the culprit was a dead cell in the battery. Could not reach full potential which explains the start/stop. Dealer replaced it. Kick to open parts were not available for months due to covid. No big deal.
3rd year. Lift gate kick feature is fixed. No other real problems. Just the minor annoyances like carplay disconnecting every now and then.
4th year. Rear drivers side rotor heating up. So hot that I can smell it in the cabin. At this point the Jeep has 70 thousand km. Approx 43 thousand miles. Took advantage of recall for possible stuck piston. Dealer did a full brake flush, and went the extra mile replacing all 4 rotors, and pads. Even threw in an oil change. Problem never returned.
Replaced factory tires with Michelin CrossClimate 2. Day and night. To each their own when it comes to rubber, but I have found mine. While I liked the look of the stock tires, the Michelins are worlds better everywhere I drive. Especially snow and ice. less noisy on the pavement as well.
It's been a great vehicle. Aside from the issues above, and while it may seem like a bunch, the reliability and fun of driving the thing every day outweighs the problems.
