2019 Jeep Cherokee Problems

Did anyone go through problems with oil consumption, have their engine replaced under warranty, and now going through oil consumption issues again and a service 4WD problem? The code came up as C14A7 PTU Motor. I saw there are recalls for the PTU on older models. I have 79,700 miles and have had the Jeep for 4 years, bought it brand new. I got into near car crashes from the engine shutting down and now this? How is this safe to drive anymore? Anyone going through this and tell me your experience?

It looks like 2.4l is tagged, so I'm going to assume you have the 2.4l. It is known for oil consumption issues. There is a recall that is suppose to help (software update), but its a known problem. Just need to check periodically and add oil between oil changes. I'm assuming if it was extremely excessive then it could be replaced, but even new engines could burn through a quarter in-between oil changes and be considered normal.

What engine do you have?
It's the 2.4L multi air engine

I could be wrong but... from the first post I get the feeling they've replaced one engine already...

Oh, I misread it. I was thinking they were asking if anyone has had it replaced due to oil consumption, not that it was replaced, and then they were asking about oil consumption. My bad.
Find out if the new engine Warranty for parts and labor is still in effect.
It should be on the repair receipt, or ask your Jeep Service Advisor.
Maybe the new engine has the some problems as the old engine.
Find out if the oil consumption Recall applies to the new engine. If so, was it done.
The Recall changes the software in a module external to the engine, so the Recall needs to be done.
@amuenkel : How much oil does the new engine consume ? Did you get the oil consumption recall done on it ?

YES!! GET RID OF THE 4 CYLINDER JEEP. TRADE IT IN [email protected]!
I had a 2018 brand new Cherokee with the 2.4ltr tigershark motor. Broke down 2 times with no warnings at all. No lights on dash showing problem just completely died while driving. They replaced my block with new one. New one had same issue burning too much oil. I traded mine in and stepped up to a brand new 2021 with v6 engine. No issues with the 2021. Runs great except it burns alot of gas city driving. Highway miles it does great but short trips it guzzles fuel. Definitely does not get the city miles as sticker says. Otherwise love the v6. There is a major issue with the 2.4 ltr 4 cylinder tigershark motor. It's in the Cherokee compass and renegade. Fiat Chrysler is being evasive and real shady with this issue. Get rid of your vehicle asap! I owed 14200 on my 18 and a jeep dealer near me gave me just about 25 grand for the 18. I used the profit and put it all into a 21 v6. Payment went up a few bucks as I added the interior protection plan and my insurance went up 7 bucks. Overall well worth the few extra bucks a month knowing I now have a safer vehicle with far less issues to worry about.
Get this: I've had my '15 TH 2.4L since April of 2015 with just under 50K miles and I have never had to add oil between changes. Now I change the oil every 4,500 to 5,500 miles, but I would have expected to need some oil and after just finishing a 1,100 trip, it's reading in the 'good' range. Go figure.

That's cool. I know from my research there is specific years the 2.4 ltr issue is affecting and from what I was told by the dealer it's not every engine. It's very random. I just was one of the unlucky ones lol. I loved my 18 but my wife drives my kids around in it and we drive to Florida a few times a year for vacation from PA so I need a reliable vehicle and one that does not have the chance of dying without notice. I was able to take advantage of dealers paying top dollar for used vehicles last year. Just cannot take the chance of the 18 dying on the road with my kids in it.
