I recently bought a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. My largest complaint is a daily annoyance. It’s such a first world problem but this ONE THING is almost making me regret my purchase.
Whenever I get in the car, it connects to my iPhone 11 via Bluetooth and automatically starts playing music from Spotify. If I want it to stop, I have to pause the music on the media screen. I don’t like listening to music on short drives. The only problem is that if I do this, it completely halts any phone audio from being played in the car. No music, no navigation (Waze is my preferred method. I don’t like the in-car system as much).
Now, you may think, “oh just close the app on your phone” NO. I CANNOT. If I do, it automatically gets turned on again and starts playing. The only way that I have found to have phone navigation is to loop a white noise track on Spotify or to delete the app entirely.
I saw one solution on another forum about turning off autoplay on the USB settings. I wouldn’t mind plugging my phone in, but when I do, it recognizes it as an iPod and then says that the device is unplayable. I also cant play via Bluetooth because then it says that there isn’t a device connected despite it showing that it is connected on my phone. I also can’t have my phone plugged in and connected to Bluetooth at the same time. I can’t understand why there isn’t the option to specify the input that you want when there is both USB and Bluetooth.
Basically, I’m looking for a solution so that I can just have navigation audio without the car forcefully opening and playing music every damn time I start it.
