2015 Cherokee 4x4 poor gas mileage

@luccijeep fer sh*ts & giggles you might try a straight highway test. get it up to 65mph, set cruise control, clear “Trip A” & just let it run for 15-30 miles w/o traffic, & w/o hills, maybe tuck in behind a big rig if you can w/o ever touching the brake. that’s the best way I know to get the highest reading. my 2.4 never dips below 23 under any circumstances. if you do that test & can’t get it over 25, then something is going in besides winter fuel. & according the “the scientific method” if only 1 variable changed (the dial replacement) & then you had this mpg change, one can figure it was from that variable that changed. lots of “ifs” in there I know. got any ling highway trips planned where you can use the more reliable old fashioned method of fill the tank, drive 200 miles, fill the tank, then divide miles by gallons used?

no idea what’s involved w “changing the dial”. don’t remember anyone else on the forum having to do that. something sounds odd

check the tire pressure lately?

Actually 'the scientific method', as you put it, says that correlation does not imply causation. Seeing two variables moving together does not necessarily mean we know whether one variable causes the other to occur.

And when it comes to MPG variations, there are so many factors involved, and the only way to get a good idea of your average MPG is to track it over a long period of time by tracking miles traveled and gallons put into the tank.

I track every fill-up with an app and lately my mileage has been plummeting. Why? Well, it's not because anything is wrong, but rather because it has been brutally cold out and incredibly windy. Again, there are just so many factors that can cause MPG decreases or increases, and the since the OP recently bought this vehicle he doesn't even have a baseline of what his MPG normally is....

no wonder I’m an ahhtist

the 2023 and it has so far been a much improved Jeep Cherokee. I'm sorry that Stellanis stopped the manufacture of the Cherokee in 2023 as I think they may have finally been able to produce a better one in 2023.
that's it right there (y) but corporate & sales mentality won't allow it. stick w/ it, figure it out, make it reliable, keep the price low, & sell an f'ing million of them. is that so hard? I mean really, it's 2025 for crying out loud. you'd think a major auto manufacturer would understand that

I have a 2023 KL Turbo 4 cylinder Trailhawk and live in Calgary, Canada. This past week it was about 44 degrees and drove it to the Canadian Rockies a few days ago. I got 26.5 mpg on it and drove it at 75 mph on the freeway. A few weeks ago when it what 17 below zero here and doing the same trip my mileage dropped to 21-22 mpg. I am very happy with the economy of the vehicle
hey that's good to know, thank you for sharing that. I've got the 2.4, & under similar conditions I get a little better, but not by much. used a lot of snow mode w/ temps in the teens & 20sF, on winter tires
