what do you guys think of the new head light design on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee?

I am still adjusting to it, the actual low beam headlights are in the middle. the top being the daytime running lights and the fog lights at the bottom.

It's slowly growing on me. At first it reminded me too much of the Nissan Juke.

Avante Garde

Excuse my French since it is Italian!

Ok Joking!

It is a great design and it has created a lot of pre-launch buzz for Jeep.

It also deflects people from a serious discussion about the stuff that matters... mechanics, features, dimensions etc...

Growing on me too.

I just wish I could get Xenons on the Trailhawk, unfortunately that package is restricted to the Limiteds. :-/

at first i didn't like it all that much but the new look is growing on me.
with the new Cherokee in black or even a dark grey I think the headlight will look better to me as it will blend in more with the vehicle and not stand out as much

I had not realized this!!! Does anyone have access to parts pricing? Would the xenons be in the dealer computer yet? I definitely want a Trailhawk, so I'm probably going to have to spend $1000 or whatever it is to retrofit these lights later. Hopefully you won't need a new computer/ECU/harness/something like that/ for the lights too.

Matt, they are currently part of a package restricted to Limiteds at the moment. As far as individual parts go it may be a while before they show up on the computer.

AFF - Luxury Group - $1595 is the only package I saw that included them factory direct.

Includes HID Headlamps; Power Liftgate; O/S Mirrors, Radio & Driver's Seat Memory; Premium Leather Surfaced Bucket Seats & Ventilated Front Seats.

You'll probably need a more robust harness to handle the increased voltage driving the HIDs. The ECU should be able to handle them from the factory. If I did retrofit I would want to use only factory parts and they will probably be $$$ - I know on the Golf just the housings alone were $1500 and I did need a new ECU because I had HID on the current one but only regular bulb DRLs. I wanted to upgrade to the newer HID with the LED DRL and that required new housings and a new ECU so I passed on it.

Take a look at this rendering I found of the new Jeep Cherokee with some substantial changes. The new headlights are replaced with regular headlights, the grille is lowered down , and some other small tweaks were made as well.

This was an attempt to show what the Jeep Cherokee would look like if it was not "a Grand Cherokee sucking on a lemon," which is apparently what some people are calling it.

Now that you can see the difference, do you prefer the new design (headlights and all,) or the more subdued rendering?

Wow, I prefer the production car's design. Goes to show you that the looks do grow on you over time. I'm glad the Jeep designers made an adventurous choice, even if it did incite some controversy.

The Grand Compass... that would be a true disaster

The real design is much better.

the design above has a GC headlamp assy... t would not have a 3 light stack because the middle lights are the projector headlights on the real design...

Toying with knock off GC front ends just proves that Jeep designers would have been panned by everyone for lacking any imagination. So the Compass, Cherokee and GC would all look the same.

The only issue with the Cherokee is that, IMO, it is a little too small in the cargo area...

Sorry that looks hideous to me. I'll take my "GC sucking on a lemon" any day over that face.

low beams are terrible.

my low beams shine so badly that other drivers are constantly flicking their lights at me thinking i have my high beams on. according to the dealer they are adjusted correctly, now that they adjusted them for me. however there is no left/right adjustment. it is so bad that at night i get blinded by other drivers who high beam me. I have hit one animal already. 2nd night i owned the jeep. that was when the dealer adjusted the lights and sent me an estimate to fix the damage to the bumper. they say the unadjustment is a factory issue and they wont cover the damage.

Couple of things:
1. You should probably start a new thread, as this one is really old and not related to your question.

2. I'm a little confused. Is the issue that the lights are not bright enough, or that they are too bright, blinding other drivers? Are you saying they are pointing too high?

NVMD saw poster, has posted again on same topic in another thread.

Still a dealer can not fix a design flaw. Also if you were blinded by oncoming driver and then caused damage to your vehicle, that driver's insurance should be paying for damage, not the dealer.

Projector headlights are different than a lot of headlights on the market right now. Also some people think that the DRL's are actually the headlights and the lower lights are the high beams. So that is just confusion on their part.
