This configuration is being produced for export markets.

2.0L I4 Turbo Diesel
6-Spd C635 Manual Transmission

Who else would buy a diesel/manual Cherokee in the U.S.? If I could, this is what I would buy. Anyone have more info on the specs?

That would be amazing, but given there setbacks with the cherokee, and the serious delays with the new diesel in the grand, I doubt it will make it here.
My understanding is that marketing's impression of Cherokee demographics is the real obstacle. I am hoping that will change as more Jeep drivers discover diesel. Jeep should be closely watching the sales of the diesel Grand Cherokee and new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. If those sell well, just maybe we will get our diesel Cherokee. :)

I suspect you're right. If they are primarily aiming it at Soccer Moms they will never offer a diesel - though I wish that would be an extra cost option at least on a Trailhawk. It's frustrating knowing it is possible and being made, but only for the export market.

I'd take a Trailhawk diesel with the auto tranny in a second. Then again, they taxed Grand Cherokee owners $4500 for the Diesel upgrade + forcing a $1500 or so upgrade package making it $6500 or so over the base Overland. :s

I snapped 2 pics of a diesel cherokee in my neighborhood today. It had an auto trans. Nothing different that I seen from the interior side of things so I just snapped the pics of the diesel labels. It had longitude badges on it. Diesel only label above fuel door. Trying to host pics

Looks to be for ROW markets and not for North America,

When we ordered our 14 RAM, I wanted the Eco diesel, but we ordered the HEMI instead as it's a 5000 dollar option in Canada over the HEMI, that's a lot of miles to pay off the difference....alas the V8 it was

For the Kee I got the 3.2, would I be disappointed about not getting a diesel, for sure, I love the torque of the , but would be interesting to see the option cost of that motor

How can you tell? I posted pics of the propane RAM and diesel RAM a good time before they hit the public. Several people mentioned the ROW. What is that?

Hey!

The chance of a diesel cherokee in Nth America will be based on the performance of the GC and RAM, and demand from consumers wanting a 4 pot diesel,

Not to mention we haven't even mentioned the fact this engine (no doubt a fiat 2.0 Turbo Diesel) will have to re-engineered to ad a DEF (ad blue) tank to meet emission standards,

ROW - Rest of World markets dot have this requirement, and for anything to be successful in Europe and Australia a diesel engine is required ( Supercars excluded from that statement)

Lastly, the business case will be the option cost of the motor making financial sense in Nth America, since this vehicle isn't a tow vehicle when you compare the RAM and GC, the main market this will be targeted at is folk who do ALOT of Hwy miles

I see so by the pictures there isn't a way to tell if it's ROW. By the post I thought that was something you could see or a tell tale way of showing that is was for ROW. They made a business case for a diesel liberty, I think a diesel Cherokee makes as much sense as a diesel GC. There is no definte answer for the diesel option as of yet.

Longitude is the export name for the mid-model Cherokee (North in Canada, Latitude in the States, and Longitude for export)
